Welcome to the Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex Postgraduate Deanery (HEKSS).

Welcome to the GP Specialty Training at Ashford & St Peters Hospitals NHS FoundationTrust. The Trust offers one of the biggest GP Specialty training programmes in HEKSS. It currently has 18 three year rotations. Our training is based at Ashford & St Peters Hospital sites as well as the Abraham Cowley Unit for Psychiatry.

Our aim, at the end of your training, is for you to have covered the new GP curriculum and to have passed the nMRCGP exams, all within a safe nurturing environment.

∎ Learning Log

The RCGP is putting alot more emphasis on the quality and quantity of learning log entries. As such the Deanery,in conjunction with the RCGP, has brought out new specific guidelines for learning logs entries and quantity, this also includes new MANDATORY evidence. Please find details of these important changes below, in addition to a guide on reflective writing.

∎ Leave Guidance

In ST1 and ST2 annual leave is 27 days plus 8 bank holidays.
In ST3 year annual leave is 30 days plus 8 bank holidays.
Please give plenty of notice for annual and study leave. Annual leave will be expected to be taken evenly through out the year unless under special circumatance(please speak to CS,ES and PD).

Once sick leave exceeds 2 weeks per year,this will affect your training and training period may have to be extended.
